Country Roads, Take Me Home... To Bellows Falls! We've had an awesome week here at Ocean Park, but it's time to head back to school. The 7th grade is packing their bags, rolling up their sleeping bags, and they will head out for one last Field Group Adventure before we go. We should be on the road around 10:30 am, and arriving back at BFMS approximately 1:30 pm. Students will report to the gym with their luggage, and you may pick them up from there. We will have them text you when we get close. Thank you to all the parents/guardians who let us have your 7th grader for the week, we had a blast, and we are truly grateful to share this experience with them. See you soon families! Staying Strong! We began our day with a giant game of tag, also know as Predator v. Prey "Only the Strong Survive!" Students learned about food chains and what causes them to become unbalanced. Later, they had another round of special interest classes including Shelter Building, Shark Dissection, Gnome Homes, and Avocado Boats. The NC teachers built us a campfire and we roasted marshmallows. At night we had our Nike Hike Adventure, and learned about a special chemical pigment called rhodopsin. Ask your 7th grader what this is for and why they have magic marker mustaches! A Full Day of Adventure!Today was our first full day at Nature's Classroom. It was a cold one, but there were plenty of hats/gloves to go around. Many field groups ventured out to the beach and estuary to find the tiny organisms that make up these unique ecosystems. The 7th grade had two special interest classes, including echinoderm dissection, water rockets, owl pellets, and building a civilization. Later, as the sun started to go down, the teachers at NC surprised us with some hot chocolate. Tonight we're in for a treat with the NC Science Fair, and then hopefully we have tired out these kiddos and they will go right to sleep! We Made It!We arrived at Ocean Park and we're pumped to be here! The kids have been busy all day long. We arrived and immediately began unloading the luggage and getting settled into our rooms. After that, the students had lunch and began an afternoon field group. Many got to hike to the beach and watch the sunset. Later, after dinner, we began a QUEST of teambuilding challenges. Oh Snow!It looks like there is wintry weather in the forecast for tomorrow. We will be delaying our departure from BFMS until 10 am. If we do not end up having a 2-hour delay, students will leave their luggage in the Community Room and report to their advisory as normal. If we do end up having a 2-hour delay, students will report to the gym when they arrive and sit in their advisory pods. We will get attendance, and be on our way, as planned, just 2 hours behind. Week Before Trip Prep Our Nature's Classroom trip is right around the corner! Here are some last minute prep reminders:
Start Packing The most important pieces you need are warm layers, good walking shoes, and a water bottle. The packing list is set up for the 5-day experience- we are going for 4 days, so please adjust accordingly. You should have one BIG duffle or suitcase, and then a smaller item, like a daypack. Sleeping bags can be separate. Do NOT buy new clothes for NC! Pack things that can get dirty. Packing Medication All medications must be in the original containers. Only bring in what your student needs for the week, and not any extras. Students who are self carry for epi-pens and inhalers must have proper permission forms filled out before the trip. Mrs. Hodsden will be collecting medications the morning of the trip departure; they must be brought in by an adult. Check the Weather New England in November could be unpredictable, especially on the coast of Maine. Make sure to check the weather before you finish packing. The students go outside at NC regardless of wet, cold or snowy weather, so they should be prepared with the proper attire. Arrive on Time The bus ride will be about 3 hours, so we'll want to leave Bellows Falls as soon as we can! Try to arrive before 8 am on Tuesday morning, and meet in the gym with your luggage. This way we can get attendance and medication sorting done quickly, and get on the road as soon as possible. Bookmark this Blog We'll try to keep you updated on what's happening while we're away at Ocean Park, so keep checking back for the latest posts!

Hey Rick here. I'm still rocking. Trying to find a guitar case. The reason. The teachers want me to bring my guitar to school. I can help out for music event with that.
